Alone In The Dark - Impressions (360)

So, I knew i was taking a gamble when buying but i still wanted this. I was original going to go for the Wii version but i heard it was unfinished and glitchy(er)
So i went for a 360 version on for my Brand New 360.

{Starting}
Yea, so you start off in a room not knowing anything. Nice Visuals so far, i must say. So you've got to press the analogue to blink which i personally really like. Alot more innovative than most wii games
(pressing analogue for blinking > Waggling)
For those who don't know, you play as Edward Carnby. He can't remember anything from his waking at the beginning. So you're trying to save the city and find out about your past. It's interesting, to say the least

{Controls}
The game reminds me of...Resident Evil actually, the first few with 'tank track' control’s with the third-person. Which was cool as I’m a Resi Addict myself and actually preferred the control’s here. You can swap to First-person mode at a touch of button (The Y Button) which you can use for Gun control’s and it adds a nice verity, You can swap at anytime as well so if you don't like third-person camera angles you can swap

{Good points}
Music, It's - In a word - Epic. I've downloaded the soundtrack when i heard the trailer's music was in-game.
Review's have slated the voice acting but i think it's great and Carnby is portrait as a total badass. Something i forgot to mention was that he meets up with a girl named Sarah who doesn't really do much to be honest but complain but can be useful when getting to high placing and she doesn't need healing like Ashley From Resident Evil 4 and you can shoot her and she just says 'Ow'

{bad Points}
While gamespot said that the Driving sequences where bad, i must agree. The cars are quite hard to handle with the '60 controller. Fire to kill enemy's can be annoying, i must admit Since it's hard to light some objects unless you Make your own.

{Original Ideas}
Nice ideas are thrown in With healing yourself and no health bar, You check your body for blood and how badly your battered. It's Original and a nice little touch.
Exploding bottles you find on the floor is also cool and a nice way of taking enemies down easily and a fun way of experimenting.

Fienno Likes:
+ The Music
+ The Story
+ Edward Carnby as a character
+ The Healing System
+ The Controls
+ The DVD-style selection screen
+ The Cutscenes

Fienno Doesn't it:
- Car Controls
- Parts that don't make sense
- Die and Lose some progress
- No skipping in-game cutscenes, even if you've seen them and died

SO...
I'd give the game 8/10.
Fun but flawed.
Atari should of spent a few more months improving things but i enjoyed and you will too if you have patience

  2. Yeah, that is a pretty good review, very detailed and it makes me think you were writing this review as you were playing it.
